Nepalese Librarians attended International Conference

The World Library and Information Congress 2018, the 84th International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) General Conference and Assembly was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia dated on 24- 30 August 2018. The theme of this year’s conference was “Transform Libraries, Transform Societies.”  The following delegates participated in the conference as follows Ms. Gita Giri Thapa (Former President of Nepal Library Association), Ms. Bina Vaidhya (Former Associate Librarian of Tribhuvan University, Central Library), Ms. Reshma Dangol (Librarian, SAARC Secretariat), Ms. Neela Malla Pradhan (Librarian, Nepal Medical College (Pvt) Ltd, Teaching Hospital), Mr. Ramesh Bhusal (Journalist, Nepal Pustakalaya Awaj). Mr. Prabin Babu Dhakal (Journalist, Nepal Pustakalaya Awaj).
Ms. Bina Vaidhya presented paper on “Manuscript storage, preservation, conservation and metadata development for document access: case studies of four libraries of Nepal” and Ms. Reshma Dangol operated as a Rapporteur for the session “IFLA – Knowledge Café 2018: Continuous Learning for successful Info Pros in the knowledge Economy- Knowledge management with continuing professional development and workplace learning and library and research services for Parliaments.” She received grant from IFLA and participated in Library Fashion IFLA which is shared in social media and IFLA website. Ms Gita Giri Thapa and Ms. Bina Vaidhya shared the valuable information during OCLC meeting conducted during the conference and  Ms. Gita Giri Thapa  also took part in the Management of Library Associations Session 188 and General Assembly, session 211.
This opportunity is especially meaningful, as it enables and empower all the library profession to hone leadership skills, make valuable connections and expand professional growth. Nepal Library Association is regular member of IFLA and has worked closely by participating in annual and other conference, presenting various papers and answering questionnaires. 
These delegates shared their knowledge, skills and experience gained in the conference to all the professionals and students of library science by organizing a workshop dated on 1st October 2018 in Kathmandu Valley Public Library, Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu.
